I made this drawing for Article 25, to be auctioned at their event on the 29th November. The drawing depicts the square within the 100 square grid which I was given, the area where Electric Avenue meets Atlantic Road.
Brixton is a wonderfully vibrant and effervescent place, it even has it's own currency. A rich history of windmills, steam trains, the first electric street lighting, and the arrival of the Windrush in 1948. Today, it’s railway arches are a real hub of activity and daily life.
Brixistane [it's medieval name, meaning the stone of Brihtsige] attempts to depict a reflection of Brixton today, set within the important backdrop of its past.
